People ask this of me frequently. Those who know me, don't really know me as the life of the party by any means. So my enthusiasm for this season strikes them as out of character.
I am current writing a series of blogs that I hope will help people understand the answer to this question. I will be posting them in the next few days so stay vigilant. They will be thick with the usual bitter comedy/sarcasm you know me for. I'm not angry about my history though so keep that in mind as you read them.
It makes me laugh. Hopefully you will find it funny too and perhaps share some of your own disastrous experiences.

Can't wait to read your experiences. All I can share is, I didn't have Halloween until I moved out of my parents house (at about age 24?) We weren't allowed to celebrate it. Maybe that's why I have so much fun with it :)
The we are the same. I didn't really get to celebrate it in its true joyful spirit until I was an adult.
I haven't ever celebrated Halloween, either. I can't wait to have my own family so that we can celebrate all of the holidays.
I knew a few Jehovah's Witness's as a youth that were the same way. They wouldn't celebrate anything but they could throw parties for any reason any day. They just couldn't celebrate, events I think.
I understand their reasoning.
I have celebrated Halloween all my life but it has never been more fun than now (with my own kids). Maybe I'll write a Halloween blog, too...
I wonder if "Halloween" will change for me as I get older?
